waVe AntivirusWindows 95/98/NT/2000/ME/XPwaVe is a new desktop virus scanner and security software package based upon tried-and-true CyberSoft technology, as embodied in the VFind Security Toolkit that is presently protecting vital computer systems all over the world. waVe possesses a fully automatic mode feature, which is executed upon the first run of the waVe GUI on the designated computer. The waVe GUI serves as an interface with waVes Scan Engine, which will scan your system for new viruses spreading in the wild. When in full auto scan mode, scanning processes are indicated by lights on the waVe GUI main panel. The fully automatic mode contains the ability to scan and create a baseline of key components on the target machine. Once the baseline database is created it can be used to maintain those critical files exactly as they were when the database was created. This helps maintain baseline configuration in the event of unauthorized changes from authorized users, viruses, system corruption or hackers. Another feature of waVe is the CyberSoft Removable Media Interceptor. This program scans removable drives on the targeted machine and serves as a desktop firewall for floppies, CD-ROMs, and other removable media. Upon mount of the media, the monitor will detect and scan for viruses on the medium. If viruses are detected, then the file in question will not be accessible to the user and the user will be promptly notified of the infection. This feature can be enabled and disabled through the admin control panel. The manual Virus Scan feature is accessible through the admin control panel and allows the user to select which drive, folder, or file to be scanned. The virus scan works in conjunction with the Removable Media Interceptor; if RMI is enabled, manual scans of removable media are not necessary. The Real Time System, also accessed through the admin control panel, scans all files which are copied, renamed, opened, and/or moved. If the file in question is infected during the performance of any of these activities, the RTS will detect the change, alert the user, and prompt him/her for a course of action. Another feature of waVe is the File Integrity Check. As opposed to the baselining of key component systems, the File Integrity Check creates a "snapshot" of the entire system as it existed upon initial scan. Once this "snapshot" has been made, it can be used to detect changes, additions, modifications, and deletions to the entire system. See diagram of how the componets of waVe AntiVirus work!
